Banking Lawyer – Funds Finance, Speciality Finance & Corporate Banking (5+ PQE), London

The Group
Located within the Finance & Projects Division, our Finance Group has a strong (and growing) City presence and market-leading teams across the rest of the UK with significant presence internationally. The Group acts for a wide variety of UK and international banks, investment funds, alternative lenders and corporate borrowers. The Group as a whole has significant capability in Corporate Banking, Leveraged Finance, Funds Finance, Speciality Finance, Structured Finance & Derivatives, Debt Capital Markets, Real Estate Finance and Social Housing Finance, with 30 partners and over 85 other fee earners in the UK.
This role relates specifically to Funds Finance, Speciality Finance and Corporate Banking. *The team for this role is predominantly based in London, but has members working from elsewhere and so there is flexibility to be based out of one of our other UK office locations.
In:
Funds Finance, we are an established but growing team which has an excellent and expanding client base with some of the most active lenders in the market on capital call, NAV and other facilities, as well as a number of UK and European alternative asset fund managers. Some of the work involves UK fund structures but a significant portion is cross-border
Speciality Finance, we are an established team advising financial institutions, mezzanine financiers, alternative lenders and PE houses on borrowing base facilities, forward flows and private securitisations and work alongside our market leading Structured Finance & Derivatives, Financial Regulation & Compliance and Tax teams to offer structured finance solutions to clients across various asset classes and receivable types
Corporate Banking, we act for a large range of UK and international banks and UK corporate borrowers on their working capital and other financing requirements, including on event-driven financings
The Role
Drafting, reviewing and negotiating term sheets, facility agreements, security documents and intercreditor agreements
Managing and co-ordinating multi-jurisdictional transactions
Managing projects from initial instruction through to closing and post-closing, ensuring smooth process to transaction close and delivering projects efficiently
Supporting a growing team as it strengthens existing client relationships, develops new clients and builds market profile, including helping drive business development initiatives and client-focused thought leadership
Providing supervision and training to more junior members of the team including trainees and paralegals
Knowledge, skills And Experience Required
Qualified lawyer approx. 5 + years PQE with experience from a major law firm
Strong academic qualifications from degree upwards
Strong technical knowledge of the legal framework surrounding finance transactions generally, and strong document drafting skills
Experience of working on funds finance and speciality (or structured) finance transactions would be a bonus, but is not necessarily essential
Self-motivated, proactive, detail-focused, a person of sound judgment
Enthusiasm for intellectually challenging work, ambitious and confident to deliver at the highest standard
Fast learner with commercial approach
Excellent client relationship skills and effective communication
Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple deadlines
Collaborative team player who will fit in well with our friendly and collegiate team, someone who is willing to pitch in to support other members of the team
