Overview

PRS for Music are recruiting for a qualified and experienced in-house commercial Lawyer to support their international business which represents our members for the licensing of their works worldwide. This is a fulltime, permanent position.

The successful applicant will be well educated with strong interpersonal, communication ad stakeholder management skills, with solid commercial experience gained in either private practice or in-house. The role remit spans across a range of commercial matters covering IP. Copyright including reviewing and drafting of international contracts.

To conduct commercial negotiations and draft commercial agreements including reciprocal agreements with international societies, service agreements, data sharing agreements and NDAs. To provide legal advice to the business in relation to a wide range of commercial matters including copyright and trademark issues, data protection, privacy, marketing and general commercial contractual issues

To ensure the process for assessing the grant of PRS rights to entities pursuant to the PRS Rights Policy complies with the commitments given by PRS to the European Commission.

To provide advice in relation to brand management queries and IP litigation matters, where required.

About You

-> Qualified solicitor, with a minimum of 2 years PQE gained in-house and/or in private practice with relevant technology experience.

-> Good working knowledge of intellectual property law and drafting commercial contracts.

-> Experience gained in-house and/or in private practice of advising on IP, commercial, data, privacy and international law.

-> Excellent written and verbal communication with the ability to build strong relationships with all colleagues and stakeholders.

-> Knowledge of the music industry would be advantageous.

-> Ability to analyse and summarise the application of complex legal issues to PRS for Music and to communicate those issues effectively both inside and outside the organisation.

-> Ability to work under pressure to meet critical internal and external deadlines.

-> Excellent written skills, presentational skills and attention to detail.

-> Understanding of business and how to add value outside of the legal remit

-> Understands the importance of a working culture based on values.

Education

-> Degree level qualification (2:1 (or above) LLB in Law or equivalent)

-> A minimum of 2 years PQE
