The City of London Corporation is the local authority for the Square Mile. We carry out the usual functions of a local authority, but we also have important wider responsibilities for areas you might not associate with the City – the Barbican Centre, the City of London Police, open spaces such as Hampstead Heath, and markets such as Smithfield are examples which bring a unique and interesting flavour to this post of Chief lawyer.
We are seeking to recruit a Chief Lawyer who can demonstrate excellent legal, technical and professional and leadership skills to advise on a wide range of legal issues, including all aspects of commercial property law and some residential/housing law.
Applicants should also have experience of managing and leading teams of professional lawyers, HR/Business operations and be able to demonstrate an ability to manage and have developed a high level of expertise in the legal areas relevant to the post.
Applicants will be solicitors or barristers FILEX/CILEX members with at least 10 years post qualification experience preferably with some experience at a senior level in local government.
