Background
 
The City Community Legal Advice Centre (CityCLAC) is part of LawIRL, which was launched in September 2023 to provide opportunities for City Law School students to experience the law beyond the classroom 'In Real Life.' Our mission is to widen access to justice and to the legal profession.City, University of London was ranked among the top three universities in the UK for social mobility. Through LawIRL we aim to improve law graduate outcomes.
The CityCLAC advises on areas of social welfare law and small business. The service won Best New Pro Bono Activity at the LawWorks Attorney General's awards 2023.
 
Responsibilities
 
The role holder will provide day to day supervision within CityCLAC, running cases within their specialism and providing general skills supervision. This will include; deputising for CityCLAC Director when required, supervising student advisers, providing detailed feedback, facilitating reflection, and delivering training.
The role-holder will be responsible for developing a new module, allowing students to obtain academic credit for their work with CityCLAC, or one of our partner non-profit organisations. The role may present an opportunity to set up a new clinic or compliment an existing service.
 
Person Specification
 
You will be a qualified lawyer with significant relevant legal practice experience, in line with our stated aims.
