The Commercial Group and the Firm
Our data protection team is a national group, working in each AG office in the UK and internationally within our Commercial practice. We work with some of the best-known brands in the country.
The team regularly advises FTSE100 and 250 clients in the firm’s key sectors which includes retail and consumer, healthcare, financial services, transport and energy sectors – we also have a thriving digital and sports practice.
The team supports clients on a variety of data work including advising on international data sharing projects, handling complex marketing programmes and handling data subject access requests.
Our Requirements
We are looking for someone who is a team player and would relish the opportunity to work on national and international data protection compliance work advising clients in our chosen sectors.
You should be able to manage your own workload with help from supporting partners, handling a spread of commercial work as and when needed by clients, and be able to delegate to junior lawyers in the team.
At this stage in your career you may have developed an interest in data protection law and should be keen to continue to grow your expertise.
Travel across our offices is expected from time to time and we actively encourage flexible working
Knowledge, skills and experience required
We would expect that you will have gained some experience in a comparable practice or worked in an in-house role.
You will have demonstrated good technical and analytical skills, a keen intellect and a commercial mindset.
You should be able to demonstrate that you are able to provide pragmatic, robust and tailored advice and can communicate advice not only in writing but also to clients in meetings and calls.
You will have:
- Excellent academic achievement with a minimum 2:1 degree.
- Experience gained within a comparable environment and at an appropriate level.
- Desire and ability to develop strong working relationships with clients and colleagues.
- Clear understanding and working experience of the operation and structure of a commercial law firm and the needs of the client.
