The majority of US shows debut on the service the same day as their US launch. OVERVIEW This role provides legal support to internal clients. The Legal & Business Affairs (LBA) team’s responsibilities include the provision of legal advice to the hayu business on any matters related to the distribution and marketing of the hayu service including: (i) drafting and negotiation of agreements for software and technical services, commercial distribution, content acquisition, marketing and PR services, amongst others; and (ii) providing local law advice for each of the territories within which hayu operates, working with external counsel as required. Whilst this role forms part of a small close-knit legal team, you will also benefit from the support and opportunities provided by the broader legal network within NBCUniversal. RESPONSIBILITIES hayu are looking for a professional, motivated and self-sufficient person who can deal with tasks responsibly, pragmatically, in accordance with instructions and often under time-pressure. Someone who enjoys working outside of their comfort zone and is not afraid to ask questions. Your responsibilities will vary but may include: -> Drafting and negotiating agreements with hayu’s commercial distribution partners (including MVPDs, device manufacturers and OTT services); -> Drafting and negotiating agreements for software and technical services (including Martech), and working with the Privacy team to ensure such services/software are implemented in line with applicable privacy laws. -> Drafting and negotiating agreements with third party programme providers and advising the business on the relevant rights and restrictions. -> Providing legal support to the business in relation to new strategic initiatives (e.g. territory launches, products, customer terms) and clearly communicating any potential legal implications; -> Providing advice in relation to the subscriber sign-up flows, website terms of use and other customer touch points to ensure ongoing compliance with applicable consumer laws. -> Undertaking legal research across various areas of law (including marketing and consumer law). -> Assisting the LBA team with its ongoing work to create processes and systems that support greater efficiency and risk management. -> Attending routine meetings with internal clients, as well as getting involved with the meetings and events of the wider NBCU legal team The responsibilities associated with this position are not limited to the above description and may be modified at any time by the Company. SKILLS & EXPERIENCE -> 2 – 5 years PQE lawyer (UK qualified) with a good grounding in intellectual property and commercial law, likely gained in a private practice or in-house role -> Ideally some experience of technical services or software agreements -> Strong drafting and contract negotiation experience -> Excellent attention to detail -> Concise and efficient written and communication skills -> Proactive, clear thinker, able to prioritise and manage a broad and fast-moving workload -> Ability and willingness to develop good working relationships with employees and clients within the Legal and Business Affairs team and across the commercial business -> Computer literate with experience in using Excel, Word and PowerPoint -> Understanding of data privacy issues and GDPR requirements a bonus -> All applicants must be able to provide documentation to prove they are able to work in the United Kingdom. hayu are proud to be a disability confident employer and will do everything to support you during your application.
