Salary: £72,390 – £82,160 p.a. inclusive of London Weighting. This post also attracts a Market Forces Supplement of £10,150 which may be withdrawn, reduced or increased during the year.

The City of London Corporation is the local authority for the Square Mile. We carry out the usual functions of a local authority, but we also have important wider responsibilities for areas you might not associate with the City – the Barbican Centre, the City of London Police, open spaces such as Hampstead Heath, and markets such as Smithfield are examples which bring a unique and interesting flavour to this post of Chief lawyer.
We are seeking to recruit a Chief Lawyer who can demonstrate excellent legal, technical and professional skills to advise on a wide range of legal issues, including all aspects of Property Commercial Law and some residential/housing law. Applicants should also have experience of managing and leading teams of professional lawyers, business operations and be able to demonstrate an ability to manage and have developed a high level of expertise in the legal areas relevant to the post.
Applicants will be solicitors or barristers FILEX/CILEX members with at least 10 years post qualification experience preferably with some experience at a senior level in local government.
