Contentious Construction Associate, 1PQE+, Manchester
The continued success of the team has led to an increase in the number value of key mandates, and we are looking to recruit a Construction lawyer to join our Manchester team to work on a variety of contentious construction matters.
This will focus predominantly on Contentious matters both in formal disputes and project advisory stages – including acting for Developers, Lenders, Contractors, Consultants and Public Sector Bodies.
There is an exciting opportunity to play a central role in contentious work, client relationship development and continued expansion of the team and practice.
What You’ll Do:
Our market leading construction team continues to grow the mandates on which it acts both for existing and new clients. You will have plenty of opportunity to assist in pitching for work and helping to manage client relationships.
You will work on a diverse range of contentious construction and engineering disputes, including contractual claims, professional negligence matters (acting for both claimants and defendants), and disputes arising from major infrastructure projects such as PFI/PPP schemes (including schools, hospitals, and regeneration projects), energy-from-waste (EfW) facilities, and engineering installation contracts (including MF1 contracts).
You will be assisting in the drafting of and advising clients on a range of construction issues and documentation including consultant appointments, warranties, construction and development contracts, in a range of sectors including living, office, retail life sciences, energy industrials and transport.
Who We’re Looking For
Have at least 1+ PQE years’ experience within contentious construction matters, and strong skills in dispute avoidance, dispute resolution and project management.
You will have construction litigation experience of some of the following: litigation in the TCC, adjudication process, high court litigation and arbitration and preparing pleadings, preparing witness and expert statements. Ideally you will have had exposure to bundling and resolving the associated issues.
Be a confident stakeholder manager, with some experience of engaging with internal and external stakeholders.
Be inquisitive and want to understand our clients, their drivers and what matters to them, so that your advice has quality, imagination, and impact.
