We are the official independent body that investigates potential miscarriages of justice. Tackling complex matters, across a broad range of criminal cases, we have dealt with some of the most serious miscarriages of justice of the last 50 years.
Although rare, sometimes something goes so wrong in a criminal case that it leads to a miscarriage of justice. There might not have been a crime at all, the wrong person may have been convicted, the process might have failed, or important new information might become available, meaning that the conviction is unsafe, or the sentence is wrong.
We are looking for people who want to train to become Case Review Managers, the people responsible for reviewing and making recommendations on our cases.
- Do you want to help us find miscarriages of justice?
- Can you recognise the key information in a pile of documents?
- Can you learn how to spot the crucial flaw in the case that everyone else missed?
- Can you make a fair, evidence-based decision, remaining professional and objective when faced with challenging circumstances?
- Can you work at pace and juggle competing demands?
- Are you keen to learn and committed to developing a career in the public service?
- Do you have what’s needed to put right what has gone wrong?
If so, we would be delighted to hear from you about our Trainee Case Review Manager vacancies. The successful candidates will join a two-year training programme. We hope to be able to offer those who successfully complete the programme a position with us as a Case Review Manager.
We are committed to being an inclusive organisation and support diversity in the Criminal Justice System. We welcome people who will bring diversity of thought and provide constructive challenge. We encourage applications from black, Asian and ethnic minority candidates and from individuals from socially disadvantaged backgrounds.
