Job Description

As a Director in Google’s EMEA competition team, you’ll play a lead role in proactively solving complex, multi-layered regulatory challenges, requiring an in-depth knowledge of existing and emerging competition regulations, our product strategy, and the goals and processes of the regulators that we work with.

This role requires, in particular, the ability to build strong cross-organizational collaborations and well-developed project management skills. You’ll be relied on to ensure the strategy, direction, and decisions of multiple large workstreams are integrated, aligned, and positioned to support the achievement of our business goals and objectives. You’ll need to be comfortable challenging the status quo and have the imagination and expertise to lead teams and processes that allow us to engage constructively and efficiently with competition regulators.

Responsibilities:

> Engage proactively with agencies and other stakeholders to help them understand Google’s products and services and learn how we can continue
to promote choice and competition.

> Understand how new competition laws are evolving and be responsible for helping Google make the required organizational changes
successfully.

> Advise business and commercial teams on competition law questions associated with commercial agreements and product development.

> Work with litigation colleagues in cases where competition law arguments are invoked, drafting relevant parts of submissions.

Minimum qualifications:

> Bachelor’s degree or equivalent practical experience.

> Qualified lawyer in Europe and admitted to practice in qualified jurisdiction

> Experience in competition or competition-related regulatory law.

> Ability to speak and write in English fluently and idiomatically.

Preferred qualifications:

> Professional experience from a law firm, in-house technology company, or consultancy.

> Experience in economics and data analysis.

> Project management and organizational skills.
