Facebook is seeking a talented and highly-motivated transactional lawyer to serve as Commercial Counsel supporting its digital media acquisition, licensing and other initiatives. You will work closely with the Media Partnerships teams to structure, draft and negotiate commercial agreements including content acquisition and media rights agreements with producers and distributors of a wide range of media content (e.g., entertainment, news, sports) for Facebook’s video service. You will also advise local and international clients on the various legal risks, business strategies and other issues related to commercial transactions and business operations. This is a full-time position that will be located in London.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Contract drafting, negotiation and advisory responsibilities for Facebook’s Media Partnerships, video and other platform teams
  • Provide strategic business and legal advice to develop a comprehensive, long-term approach to our relationships with key media partners
  • Manage and resolve legal issues that arise in existing commercial relationships
  • Willingness and flexibility to travel domestically and internationally
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
  • UK qualified lawyer (or equivalent) with strong academic background
  • 3+ years PQE gained either in-house or in private practice including prior experience with media, internet or technology companies
  • Excellent analytical skills and business judgment combined with high quality written and verbal communication skills
  • Good experience drafting and negotiating technology and content acquisition, licensing and distribution agreements
  • Good knowledge of the current media landscape, including OTT platform distribution trends and business models
  • Ability to work independently and react quickly to make decisions that have both legal and business impact, and manage multiple projects simultaneously under deadline pressure in a fast-paced environment
  • Ability to work effectively and collaboratively with cross-functional teams, to think creatively and be solution-oriented
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience working in a top national or international law firm
  • Experience providing counsel to internet companies with video products and services offered to consumers
