Commercial Lawyer
Location: London, Bristol, Leeds, Croydon
Salary: £50,500 – £61,000 (Central London) and £48,985 – £58,000 (National)

The role
You’ll join one of seven legal teams providing commercial law and commercial litigation support to a range of Government Departments. Our clients include high-profile departments such as Home Office, the Ministry of Justice, the Cabinet Office and the Department for International Trade.
Whichever department you work in, you’ll drive value from departmental contracts and take on interesting, varied and complex commercial work, advising on some of the most vital commercial issues in government.
Engagement Sessions
We will hold informal virtual Engagement Sessions for would be applicants for these roles, so you can get to meet us and find out more about us and our work. This will be attended by senior legal managers and lawyers. We will provide more detailed information on CLGp and the exciting and wide-ranging work we do, as well as providing you with the chance to ask questions.

About you
You’ll be a qualified solicitor or barrister with a completed training contract, pupillage or similar.
We look for excellent powers of analysis and sound commercial legal judgment, combined with constructive problem-solving skills and the ability to provide clear, risk-based advice. You’ll also need strong negotiating skills, the ability to draft commercial contracts, and an understanding of the role of lawyers in Government.
You’ll also need a minimum of a 2:1 honours degree. Before your employment can start, you’ll need to complete Baseline Personnel Security Standard (BPSS) as part of the Civil Service background checks.
