Our planet is in peril and as the world’s leading independent conservation organisation, we are on a mission to provide solutions to the greatest environmental problems facing our planet. The future of our world is in our hands, it’s time to accelerate the action urgently needed to actively restore nature.
We now have an incredible opportunity for a highly experienced legal professional to join our senior leadership forum and head up the Legal Team within our Corporate Services Department and Operations Directorate.
As our Head of Legal, you will be responsible for the provision of legal advice covering a range of commercial, corporate and charity matters from governance to fundraising and intellectual property. You will also mitigate any risk arising from any legal issues. We will look to you to motivate your team to provide a proactive ‘best in class’ service to the organisation. This will involve assisting with the drafting and negotiation of commercial contracts as well as ensuring we comply with all relevant legislation and regulation. You will support procurement, company secretarial work and the maintenance of our intellectual property portfolio too. Important will be the ability to liaise with legal colleagues throughout our Network to procure legal advice and solutions as well as advise on and support the resolution of any legal disputes including formal litigation.
For this high-profile role, you must be a qualified lawyer holding a current practising certificate in England & Wales. You will have strong management and leadership experience and have a good understanding of the areas of law relevant to WWF-UK as a UK based charity, including at least charity law, regulation, commercial contracts, intellectual property, licensing and data protection.
You will be well versed in working with non-lawyers and comfortable delivering training on legal topics where required. You will be adept at supporting internal teams in negotiations and in clarifying and advising on points of law and regulation too. Ideally you will also have governance experience in order to assist the General Counsel & Company Secretary in supporting the Board of Trustees.
If you are enthusiastic about making our world a better place through your work, we would love to hear from you. Please click the link and apply via our website by submitting a copy of your up-to-date CV and the Supporting Statement to highlight what makes you a good fit for us:
Every role at WWF is open to applications from all sections of society. We believe in the potential of everyone regardless of; sex, race, religion or belief, ethnic origin, different physical ability, family structure, socio-economics, age, nationality or citizenship, marital, domestic or civil partnership, sexual orientation, gender identity, or any other aspect that makes you, well you. Here at WWF, we are committed to conscious inclusion that helps cultivate an ethos of belonging, connection and shared purpose. We believe that the more diverse we are the better we become; this brings us together and empowers us to develop, engage and inspire; and critically to help build a future where people can live in harmony with nature.
Our policies and benefits reflect the importance of people being able to have a good work-life balance and being able to bring their ‘full self’ to work.
Our world needs you like never before. We are the first generation to know we are destroying the world and we could be the last that can do anything about it. We are looking for people who are passionate about making it politically, socially and economically unacceptable to destroy our planet’s natural resources. We need you to join us in the fight for our world.
