The team
Irwin Mitchell’s Banking and Finance Team has substantial experience in banking and debt finance transactions across a wide range of sectors. The Team regularly advises banks, funders and borrowers on real estate finance (both investment and development), leveraged finance and corporate banking transactions.
The Banking and Finance Team’s clients include HSBC UK Bank plc, National Westminster Bank plc, Lloyds Banking Group, Santander UK plc, ThinCats, Deutsche Hypo and ICG Longbow as well as some high profile real estate development businesses and corporates.
What the team has done recently:
-> Advising HSBC on a syndicated £60m refinancing of a large, private equity backed Care Home Group
-> Working regularly with the CMBO team at HSBC on a range of corporate banking matters
-> Advising National Westminster Bank on a £25m syndicatable senior financing to a prominent north-east based property group
-> Advising ICG Longbow on a £65m syndicated senior loan to an aparthotel busiess.
-> Advised Deutsche Hypo on a £29m syndicated financing of a shopping centre
-> Advised ThinCats on multiple leveraged facilities for varying purposes
The role
This is an excellent opportunity for an ambitious individual to join a growing team. You’ll have the chance to work closely with partners both in Leeds and London and be involved in varied and interesting transactions right from the start, working with well- established clients. Given the nature of the role, you will be highly organised and be able to work pragmatically. The role will involve working independently with support where required from partners but also working as part of a team for larger projects.
You’ll work to participate in relevant practice development initiatives, seek to get involved with business development opportunities and keep up to date with changes in relevant law and practice. You will also have the opportunity for secondments if this is something of interest. To drive best practice further, you will be an exceptional team player with the ability to work collaboratively to deliver the best outcomes for clients and to develop other team members. You will have the opportunity to work for clients in the north of England but also in London and this team is a truly national practice.
