Lead Litigation Counsel – London


Facebook seeks a highly motivated, team player to serve as Lead Litigation Counsel for the EMEA region. You will manage significant and complex litigation matters and advise internal teams on legal risks. The role requires good judgment, a strong work ethic, and a keen interest in learning about new technologies and areas of the law. LEAD LITIGATION COUNSEL RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Supervise and direct outside counsel on multiple litigation matters

 

  • Guide and execute litigation strategy in relation to high-profile, precedent setting matters pending before national and European courts

 

  • Work with cross-functional teams on data protection, public policy, platform/partnership, product, privacy, IP, and commercial issues

 

  • Develop creative approaches to managing legal risks and resolving disputes

 

  • Ensure work product of the highest quality that furthers Facebook’s strategic goals

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

  • Qualified lawyer with 5+ years PQE in a law firm or in-house in at least one European jurisdiction

 

  • 5+ years litigation experience, including extensive experience dealing with matters before higher and/or appellate courts, ideally across multiple jurisdictions

 

  • Familiarity with Internet laws and issues, including understanding of the E-Commerce Directive and its application to online platforms

 

  • Good working knowledge and understanding of data protection law – with high-quality data protection litigation experience a strong plus

 

  • Demonstrated ability to work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment and make sound judgments under tight deadlines

 

  • Candidates must be flexible and willing to work on projects in other areas

 

  • Passion for and understanding of technology
