At MI5, our mission is to keep the country safe, through the protection of national security including from threats from terrorism and espionage.
At MI6, we operate on a global scale to collect foreign intelligence and to counter and disrupt terrorism. It’s all so we can keep the country safe from ever-evolving threats.
To help us, we’re looking for the UK’s finest legal minds. We are looking to recruit lawyers to give advice across a wide range of operational and associated matters, to represent the agencies in discussions across Government and with partners overseas, and to handle litigation on our behalf. The work is wide-ranging, varied and highly responsible. Depending on portfolios, legal advisers can expect to advise on a range of domestic law issues as well as public international and EU law.
Our cases aren’t average. Neither are you.
Legal work is rarely as challenging, stimulating or varied as this. Join our diverse team of lawyers and you’ll provide the legal advice that helps to protect the country and keep its people safe.
You’ll be part of a team that supports one another, and work on complex, high-profile caseloads. This means you’ll find solutions for a broad range of legal challenges across our operational and investigative activities while always collaborating with those around you.
You’ll need to be resourceful, comfortable handling sensitive information, and show balanced judgement. It’s an exciting, dynamic environment that will test your legal expertise and skills to the full.
Experience in one or more of the following areas would be an advantage:
• Civil litigation
• Criminal law
• Public law including human rights
• Public international law
• EU law
