The University of Law (ULaw) is one of the UK’s longest-established specialist providers of legal education. With an alumni network in excess of 71,000, we’ve trained more practising lawyers in the UK than anyone else. We were the first-ever independent institution to be granted degree awarding powers and in 2012 we gained university title. With a rich heritage and a reputation for innovation and contemporary teaching practices, we continuously focus on developing the best legal and business minds. In 2016, we opened our leading Business School, further enhancing our reputation as a full service legal, business and educational training specialist, operating from 15 locations in 13 cities across the UK, online and international campuses in Berlin and Hong Kong.

What really sets us apart from other universities is the guiding principle that future lawyers and business leaders should learn in a realistic, professional and contemporary context, with plenty of practical interactive engagement. That’s why we keep our contact hours high and our teaching groups small.

We have an impressive record of student success and satisfaction:

  • We have been ranked first amongst universities for overall student satisfaction in England in the 2020 National Student Survey.
  • 94% of postgraduate students in employment were in Highly Skilled Occupations 15 months after graduating (2017/18 Graduate Outcomes data).
  • In 2019, The University of Law was awarded a silver rating in the Teaching Excellence and Student Outcomes Framework (TEF). We were found to deliver high quality teaching, learning and outcomes for our students and consistently exceed rigorous national quality requirements for UK higher education.

As our student numbers increase and we continue to diversify our programmes and portfolio, we are always looking for high-calibre individuals to join our teaching teams.

Due to a significant increase in student numbers, the University of Law are seeking to strengthen its bank of Visiting Lecturers who will work for the University on an hourly rate basis, on a Worker contract.  We are ideally looking for qualified Solicitors or Barristers who can demonstrate successful legal practice experience, or experienced law tutors who currently teach across the range of programmes we offer.

In particular, we are looking for Visiting Lecturers to teach on the LPC/SQE at Norwich.

The University delivers an extensive portfolio of both postgraduate and undergraduate law programmes including the LPC, GDL, BPC & LLB and we are looking for candidates that can demonstrate expertise in corresponding subject matters. You will enjoy being challenged (by students and course content in equal measure) and be able to adapt to the different learning styles of students and methods of course delivery.

You will be eager to share your expertise and become involved in all aspects of enhancing the student experience within our campuses. The role will also include marking in-course assignments and final assessments, as well as supporting students and dealing with queries.

If you would like an informal discussion prior to applying, please contact Nick Ross (nicholas.ross@law.ac.uk) or Sarah Corbett (sarah.corbett@law.ac.uk).

Please note, CVs will not be considered and only application forms are accepted for this role.

No agencies please.

Some posts within the University are subject to a DBS check – you will be notified of this during the application process.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) individuals are currently under-represented within the University – which does not reflect our diverse student body – we would particularly welcome applications from BAME candidates. All appointments will be made on merit.
