About the job


As a Product Counsel, you’ll be responsible for Google Cloud’s legal strategy for data sovereignty and public sector offerings in the EMEA region. Assignments will vary over time as the organization and team evolves. Google Cloud is a high-priority business for the company and undergoing rapid expansion. You will advise on a constantly-evolving portfolio of Cloud offerings. You’ll work directly with product teams and other counsel and policy experts globally, and will also be a key advisor on navigating the dynamic legal environment impacting cloud computing.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal advice to international product and business teams on data sovereignty requirements in the EMEA region.
  • Provide legal advice on public sector engagements and product design for highly secure workloads for the public sector.
  • Collaborate with the our government relations team on ever evolving legislative and geopolitical landscape impacting cloud services in the EMEA region and with other counsel on legal agreements.
  • Communicate our regulatory and legal positions to regulators and customers.
  • Work closely with engineering and business teams to identify product strategies

Minimum qualifications:


  • Experience counseling on cloud services, information technology, cybersecurity, or telecommunications in a company, government position, or law firm.
  • Qualified and admitted to practice law in one or more EU jurisdiction or the UK.
  • Ability to speak and write in English fluently.

Preferred qualifications:

  • Understanding of cloud services, cybersecurity, and enterprise sales.
  • Knowledge of European privacy, telecommunications, and regulatory laws.
  • Fluency in German and/or other European languages.
  • Curiosity-driven, demonstrated collaboration, and a willingness to take ownership and push projects to completion
