Senior Legal Officer, Criminal Law

We are looking for a qualified woman* solicitor or barrister with experience of criminal law to deliver our vital legal services for women as part of our family and criminal law team.


You will be delivering criminal law advice to women who have experienced or are at risk of Violence Against Women and Girls (VAWG) on our telephone advice line.


The main focus of this role will be on protective measures available from the police and criminal court in relation to VAWG, as well as options where an abuser is not prosecuted. You will also develop the criminal law content on our online FLOWS forum and increase engagement from stakeholders in this forum.


Other responsibilities include contributing to policy work, representing the organisation externally, line-management within a small team and assisting in the strategic development of the service.


Salary: £41,792 Full-time equivalent rate per annum (Gross Pay) plus 3% pension contribution


Conditions: 35 hours per week (Full time/5 days)


Holiday entitlement: 25 days annual leave plus public holidays [FTE per annum rate] Additionally, Rights of Women closes between Christmas and New Year and the days in between these dates (which aren’t public holidays) are granted as additional leave.


Location: Home-based. Possibility of occasional travel requirement in the future across England and Wales, after lockdown restrictions are eased, for meetings or delivery of training.

Duration: Fixed term until 7th January 2022.
