Senior Lawyer – Public and Corporate Law Division

The basic salary range for the post is £40,750 to £46,150 inclusive of London Weighting, the post also attracts an additional market forces supplement of £3570 which is non-contractual. It is anticipated that the appointment will be made at base point of the salary range.
The City of London Corporation is the local authority for the “Square Mile” including the local planning authority responsible for the emerging cluster of iconic tall buildings in the east of the city, and for protecting a number of conservation areas and important listed buildings. The City of London Corporation offers the normal range of local government services, as well as managing and funding a number of world-renowned educational and cultural institutions, working wholesale markets and some of London’s most important open spaces, including Hampstead Heath and Epping Forest.
There is a vacancy in the Public and Corporate Law Division. The role will involve planning and highways law, constitutional, local government, public and information law and the provision of legal advice to external organisations, including London Councils. The successful applicant will be a qualified Barrister, Solicitor or Legal Executive with significant post-qualification experience in planning and highways law. The post requires computer literacy, excellent research and communication skills and the ability to provide clear and pragmatic advice to tight timescales.
