The Distribution and Partnerships team delivers industry-leading content deals alongside Sky’s most creative and innovative commercial teams.


This is a broad role which primarily supports:

  • The Channels & Partnerships team in their arrangements with Sky’s key pay channel and D2C brands (such as Viacom, Discovery and Disney+) and their arrangements with the BBC, ITV, Channel 4, Channel 5, including overseeing the content aspects of the programming joint ventures in which Sky is involved
  • The Channel Distribution team in their arrangements to make Sky channels and content available on other platforms, such as Virgin Media, BT and Talk Talk
  • The Business Development & Strategic Partnerships Team in their commercial arrangements to bring the latest innovation to Sky via significant deals with a broad spectrum of players, ranging from start-ups (such as Roku) to global players (such as Google).

What you’ll do:

  • Working closely with your commercial and legal colleagues in the UK & Ireland and collaborating with colleagues in Italy and Germany and in the wider Comcast NBC Universal Group to deliver great third party channels (from players such as Discovery, Viacom and UKTV) and apps (such as Disney+ and Netflix) to Sky customers, as well as securing the best distribution opportunities for Sky channels and content (such as NOW TV) on other platforms
  • Drafting commercial contracts for our channels and app deals and related arrangements, including collaborating across different legal teams and commercial, strategy, finance, product and technology teams across Sky
  • Working as part of a larger legal team on high-profile, strategically important deals
  • Managing smaller deals independently
  • Advising commercial stakeholders on legal and commercial risks, potential impacts and proposing solutions
  • Presenting complex legal concepts in an easy to digest manner that aids commercial decision making
  • Gaining an in-depth understanding of Sky’s business and products as well as the wider TV landscape

What you’ll bring:

  • Strong academics, legal qualifications and good experience in private practice or in a leading in-house team
  • Excellent attention to detail, with strong analytical and commercial drafting skills
  • Proactivity and good organisational skills
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, a positive outlook and the ability to build trust and rapport at all levels and work collaboratively across the Sky Group to deliver Sky’s objectives
  • An ability to think laterally and identify creative, customer-focused solutions
  • Strong communication skills and an ability to distil complex issues into concise summaries that are suitable for commercial stakeholders
  • An ability to adapt quickly, organise, prioritise and plan effectively in a fast-paced environment with competing priorities

The following experience is helpful but not essential

  • Corporate/JV legal expertise
  • Working knowledge of copyright law as it applies to content deals
