We are recruiting for the role of Senior Legal Counsel in Sky Legal’s Corporate Services Directorate to support the Technology, Media and Enterprise Services (“TME”) Legal Team which supports the Sky business areas on commercial contracting for:

  • Supply-side systems, services and licensing for Technology, Sales and Marketing, Customer Services, Corporate and Executive Services, HR and Finance enterprise shared services;
  • Systems and services involving processing of personal data, including sensitive personal data, and information security controls and standards.

What you’ll do:

  • Advise stakeholders on legal and commercial risks, potential impacts and propose business focused solutions;
  • Lead negotiations and the drafting of commercial contracts autonomously, including agreements relating to technology licensing, processing of personal data, intellectual property and data services;
  • Build effective relationships with your commercial and legal colleagues and the wider Sky businesses (including Sky Group and Comcast/NBCU);
  • Assist in instructing, supervising the work of and liaising with external counsel and managed legal service providers; and
  • Report progress to relevant stakeholders and the legal team.

The TME Legal team is also instrumental in advising on, negotiating and drafting commercial contracts:

  • Partnering with third-party broadcasters in the UK and ROI for our Sky Media ad sales business;
  • Advertising, sponsorship and product placement deals across Sky Media’s portfolio of broadcast channels, digital and VOD platforms;
  • Data-based customer and business intelligence systems and services for Sky; and
  • Providing data analytics and data related services to third-party media agencies and advertisers.

What you’ll bring:

  • Qualified UK lawyer or lawyer from a jurisdiction based on UK law
  • Commercial contract experience within a highly regarded law firm or equivalent in-house
  • Understanding of software licensing, IP licensing and or technology infrastructure agreements
  • Data protection experience
  • Able to review agreements and commercial documents, negotiate and draft agreements
  • Ability to identify and summarise key issues, risks and impact of risks for stakeholders
  • Strong communication skills
  • A commercial, collaborative and pragmatic standout colleague
  • Ability to work under pressure
