Policing Tutor or Senior Tutor vacancy – Leeds campus

The University of Law (ULaw) is one of the world’s largest law schools. With an impressive history dating back to 1876, we employ over 900 staff and have over 14,000students studying on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes, along with an alumni network in excess of 100,000. We were the first-ever independent institution to be granted degree awarding powers and in 2012 we gained university title. With a rich heritage and a reputation for innovation and contemporary teaching practices, we continuously focus on developing the best legal and business minds. In 2016, we opened our leading Business School, further enhancing our reputation as a full service legal, business and educational training specialist, operating from campuses throughout the UK, Berlin and Hong Kong and an Online campus.

What really sets us apart from other universities is the guiding principle that future lawyers and business leaders should learn in a realistic, professional and contemporary context, with plenty of practical interactive engagement. That’s why we keep our contact hours high and our teaching groups small.

What are we looking for?

We are looking to recruit a Tutor or Senior Tutor to work at our Leeds campus to assist with the delivery of our BSc (hons) in Professional Policing. You will be a former police officer with, preferably, a Master’s degree in a policing related discipline. You will have a host of operational experience and knowledge, a genuine passion for the law and policing and someone who can demonstrate valuable, successful operational experience across a variety of policing roles. You will be familiar with key legislations, professional standards, the Police Education Qualification framework (PEQF) and the Policing Vision 2025. Experience with regard to the areas of Response Policing, Community Policing, Digital Policing, Road Policing and Police Investigations is especially desirable.

You will enjoy being challenged (by students and course content in equal measure) and be able to adapt to the different learning styles of students and methods of course delivery. You will be eager to share your expertise and become involved in all aspects of enhancing the student experience within our campuses. Please note that you may be required to teach on other suitable programmes. Some classes are routinely delivered over weekends and evenings and tutors are expected to work flexibly within these parameters.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons.
