UNIVERSITY OF LAW – TUTOR/SENIOR TUTOR, BIRMINGHAM (FIXED TERM)

Apply here by 30 October 2020

The University of Law (ULaw) is one of the UK’s largest law schools. With an impressive history going back to 1876, we employ c680 staff and attract over 7000 students to study on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. ULaw has an outstanding reputation as a full service legal and educational training specialist, operating from eleven campuses throughout England with additional global reach through online and face to face provision.

Our employability statistics are enviably high (97% of our 2017 full time LPC students secured employment/further education within 9 months of graduation) which is reflected in ULaw’s reputation for producing lawyers and barristers with genuine business and commercial acumen. We also deliver an LLB which has received outstandingly strong reviews in the National Student Survey.

We currently have the following vacancy within our Birmingham Team.

Law Tutor/ Senior Tutor- 6 Month Fixed Term Contract

Due to significant student growth we are looking to recruit additional tutor; qualified solicitor or barrister with a genuine passion for quality and excellence, who can demonstrate successful legal practice experience.  You will enjoy being challenged (by students and course content in equal measure) and be able to adapt to the different learning styles of students and methods of course delivery.  You will be eager to share your expertise and become involved in all aspects of enhancing the student experience within our campuses, primarily teaching on our LPC, GDL, BPC and LLB programmes.  Due to the variety of courses and numbers of students, tutors are expected to be present on campus during their usual working hours, although occasional flexible working may be possible. Classes and extra-curricular events are also routinely delivered over weekends and evenings and tutors are expected to work flexibly within these parameters.

We offer an excellent range of competitive benefits including a generous annual leave allowance, private medical scheme, contributory pension scheme, life assurance, training and qualifications, and travel loans. As part of the tutor development programme, we will also support you to study for a recognised teaching qualification within your first 18 months of employment.

Please note, CVs will not be considered and only application forms are accepted for this role.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Judi Peachey to Judi.Peachey@law.ac.uk or Laura Bradley to Laura.Bradley@law.ac.uk.

No agencies please.

Some posts within the University are subject to a DBS check – you will be notified of this during the application process.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) individuals are currently under-represented within the University – which does not reflect our diverse student body – we would particularly welcome applications from BAME candidates. All appointments will be made on merit.

Interviews are likely to take place w/c 9th November
