Tutor/Senior Tutor
Apply by 30 April 2020
We are seeking to recruit an ambitious individual who want to forge or continue a meaningful career in teaching and course design in Higher and Professional Legal Education. You may or may not have previous experience of teaching and course design, but what is important to us is that you have the drive and enthusiasm to learn.
Teaching in Higher Education can be challenging but rewarding and we are looking to recruit a highly motivated individual who is ready to make a positive contribution. You will be keen to share your expertise and to become involved in all aspects of enhancing the student experience at our Bloomsbury campus, including teaching primarily on the existing BPTC (Bar Professional Training Course) and our new BPC (Bar Practice Course), although you will be capable of teaching on our other courses too, including LLB, GDL, LPC and LLM. In return, we will guarantee you a supportive and friendly environment where considerable opportunities for learning and career development exist for the right people.
The reason for our recruitment is an existing and anticipated expansion in student numbers on postgraduate and undergraduate law programmes in particular.
Building on unprecedented growth and success across our courses, we continue to have exciting and ambitious plans for expansion and diversification.
We are looking to recruit a law tutor – qualified barrister (or solicitor with significant advocacy experience) who can demonstrate successful legal practice experience. You may or may not have previous teaching experience – the important point is that you have an aptitude to teach.
We are looking for an individual who can teach both knowledge (civil or criminal litigation and evidence) and skills (advocacy, conference, drafting, opinion writing and negotiation). The role will also include personal tutoring, marking, designing assessments, admissions, extra-curricular activities and marketing.
As part of the tutor development programme, we will also support you to study for a recognised teaching qualification within your first 18 months of employment.
