We are one of the leading firms in the UK specialising in civil liberties. We are very excited to be recruiting three solicitor apprentices to work within our Immigration, Family and Civil Liberties and Human Rights departments. These positions will be based in our Tottenham office.
Solicitor apprentices will train with us over a period of 6 years. They will work in our offices four days each week and have one (paid) day each week for dedicated ‘off-the-job’ training with the University of Law, following an apprenticeship study programme. Course fees are funded through the government’s apprenticeship training programme so this is an excellent alternative way to qualify as a solicitor without attending university in the traditional way.
The role will ensure progression from an initial introduction to legal casework, supporting and shadowing fee earners in their work in Years 1 and 2, to full casework under careful supervision in Years 3 and 4, progressing alongside trainee solicitors in Years 5 and 6. Candidates will sit the Solicitors Qualifying Exams in Years 5 and 6, and on successful completion they will qualify as solicitors and be admitted to the roll in the usual way, gaining an LLB degree along the way.
No legal experience or legal qualifications are required for these positions. We are seeking self-motivated individuals who have good administrative, oral and written communication skills as well as good attention to detail. You should be computer literate and able to work to tight deadlines within a team environment.
You should have a good academic record at A level (or equivalent) and numerical skills compatible with the role, together with an interest and enthusiasm for the areas of law in which this firm specialises and a genuine passion for human rights and social justice. You should be committed to the full apprenticeship and be determined and motivated to qualify as a solicitor in a predominantly legal aid firm.

Starting salary: £20,750 (rising to £21,550 in Year 2 and with similar annual increase throughout). We are a London Living Wage employer.
