Job Description

UNIVERSITY OF LAW – SENIOR TUTOR/TUTOR, LEEDS AND SHEFFIELD

Apply here by 22 October 2020

The University of Law (ULaw) is one of the UK’s largest law schools. With an impressive history going back to 1876, we employ c680 staff and attract over 7000 students to study on our undergraduate and postgraduate programmes. ULaw has an outstanding reputation as a full service legal and educational training specialist, operating from eleven campuses throughout England with additional global reach through online and face to face provision. Leeds campus is a growing campus with over 1000 students across a diverse range of both undergraduate and postgraduate courses. The recent opening of our Sheffield satellite campus will see the delivery of the GDL & LPC to over 150 students.

What are we looking for?

Due to ongoing growth and new programme introduction we currently have vacancy for a full-time tutor or senior tutor to be based at our Leeds or Sheffield Campus and must be flexible in being able to travel to teach out of the other campus to which they are based.

This is an opportunity to inspire and develop the next generation of legal talent and you will be eager to share your expertise and become involved in all aspects of enhancing the student experience within our campus. You will be a qualified legal professional with a genuine passion for quality and excellence, who can demonstrate successful legal practice experience.  You will enjoy being challenged (by students and course content in equal measure) and be able to adapt to the different learning styles of students and methods of course delivery.

We are interested in hearing from applicants across the range of subject disciplines offered at undergraduate and postgraduate level at ULaw. We would particularly welcome applicants who are solicitor advocates or barristers who can teach on the Bar Practice Course in Civil and/or Criminal law.

Please note that classes are also routinely delivered over weekends and evenings and tutors are expected to work flexibly within these parameters.

As part of the tutor development programme, we will also support you to study for a recognised teaching qualification within your first 18 months of employment.

For an informal discussion about the role please contact Andrea Jones (Head of Tutors) at andrea.jones@law.ac.uk.

Interviews will be held w/c 26th October & 2nd November 2020 via video conferencing.

No agencies please.

Some posts within the University are subject to a DBS check – you will be notified of this during the application process.

As an equal opportunities employer, we welcome applications from all suitably qualified persons. However, as Black, Asian and Minority Ethnic (BAME) individuals are currently under-represented within the University – which does not reflect our diverse student body – we would particularly welcome applications from BAME candidates. All appointments will be made on merit.
