We are looking for an enthusiastic lawyer to join our growing insolvency team.

The ideal candidate will likely be 4-7 PQE with previous experience in an insolvency focused role.

We offer an opportunity to gain hands-on, client-facing experience as part of a small team, working on a broad range of both contentious and non-contentious corporate and personal insolvency matters.

The bulk of our work is for insolvency practitioners and the role provides a fantastic opportunity to develop skills and build relationships within the industry. Alongside work for insolvency practitioners, we act for company directors, charity trustees, creditors and financially distressed individuals to provide robust and effective legal advice. We also work with various teams across the firm to assist clients facing insolvency issues.

The role would suit an energetic lawyer with good attention to detail and a record of providing proactive, commercially astute advice.

At 4-7 PQE you should demonstrate an ability to pro-actively manage files, supervise the work of junior team members and grow your practice with an insolvency specialism.

Connections and experience within the insolvency industry would be beneficial but this role would also provide a platform from which to make and develop those connections.

The team is based in the firm’s Putney office but the candidate will likely spend time, with the team, in both Putney and Bedford Row. The firm is also committed to flexible working arrangements.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Conducting insolvency litigation in connection with antecedent transactions, misfeasance and other office holder claims;
  • Conducting litigation in connection with asset realisations;
  • Analysing cases to identify strengths, weaknesses and alternative solutions;
  • Considering various litigation funding options, including Conditional Funding Agreements, as well as working with litigation funders and ATE providers;
  • Drafting correspondence, witness statements and applications;
  • Instructing counsel;
  • Advising office holders on practical solutions to issues arising;
  • Negotiating and exploring Alternative Dispute Resolution as appropriate;
  • Researching and drafting advice, and recommending effective solutions, in a wide range of insolvency issues for the benefit of office holders, defendant directors and other interested parties (such as landlords of insolvent tenants);
  • Advising on CVA terms
  • Advising directors and trustees in relation to their duties;
  • Advising defendants in relation to insolvency claims faced;
  • Proactively managing a mixed caseload of work to manage client expectations, maintain momentum and ensure sustainable financial performance;
  • Building and maintaining relationships with clients by repeatedly delivering effective results as part of a close team;
  • Business development activities internally and externally to raise the profile of the team.

Salary package includes the opportunity to earn performance related bonuses.
